The Construction of Flipper Uno “A dream to realize”
The ship is made of African and Brazilian “mulberry” wood. It is the first ship of this size, handmade, in Tenerife.
In the carpentry of Ribera de Alcalá, Tenerife, they made half the hull of the ship to take it later to the beach of San Juan Beach, where they finished it. The 4 carpenters brothers of Alcalá are authentic craftsmen and made the construction in 18 months. The wooden dolphin, which is on the bow of the ship, is also hand carved.
The name “FLIPPER ONE” comes from the famous dolphin of the television series.
In July 1996, they flipped the FLIPPER ONE to the water in Playa de San Juan, to navigate to the Los Gigantes sports pier, where it has its base port. On December 24, 1996 he went out with clients for the first time.
The dream was realized! By chance, December 24 is the “San Delfín”. A better day to start unthinkable.
